FAQ
Massage Therapy
What types of massage therapy do you offer?
I offer both relaxation and therapeutic based sessions. Most sessions end up being a blend of both relaxation and therapeutic techniques based on your unique needs. In many sessions, I also integrate yoga practices such as breathing techniques, meditation, and somatic noticing. Any session can also add hot or cold stones, hot or cold towels, aromantherpy, scraping tools, and/or use of a percussive massage device upon request. Lastly, prenatal massage is available! Please contact me prior to booking online.
How long is a typical massage therapy session?
Sessions are available anywhere from 30min to 2hours. Generally, I like to work in 90min chunks as it allows sufficient time for the nervous system to settle and receive the work. The amount of time you choose is totally up to you, but here's some helpful guidelines:
30min - good for focused therapeutic session. (I slept funny last night and just can't get this crick in my neck to go away)
60min - good for relaxation based practices (nothing is feeling particularly bad, I'm here to get away and relax)
90min - good for relaxation and therapeutic work (nothing is feeling particularly bad, but I know I could feel better and am here to destress)
120min - good for whole body therapeutic practices (I have goals in mind to help correct posture/recover from injury*/increase ROM/etc., and want deep and focused work) *post doctor approval
What should I expect during my first massage therapy appointment?
At your first massage appointment, expect to arrive 15min prior to your appointment to allow for time to complete intake. After intake and covering any additional questions you or I may have, I will step out of the room to let you get on the massage table.
You may disrobe to your comfort level, knowing that only the part of the body I am working on will be undraped. I have clients that remain fully clothed and that fully disrobe so there really is no right or wrong here. You will remain otherwise covered by sheets and blankets at all times.
Once you've arranged yourself on the table, I will step back into the room and our session will begin. During session, you are welcome to chat, or some clients prefer silence. I will follow your lead with regard to chatting or not. Occasionally, I will check in regarding pressure, technique, and comfort. Please, always speak up for adjustments that would make your session more comfortable.
At the end of session, I will step out of the room to allow you privacy to re-dress.
What are the benefits of regular massage therapy?
Regular massage therapy offers a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional benefits. Some of these include:
Physical Benefits
Reduces muscle tension and pain: Massage therapy helps relieve muscle tension and soreness, making it beneficial for athletes and those with physically demanding jobs.
Improves circulation: Massage stimulates blood flow, which can help improve overall circulation and enhance the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to your body's cells.
Enhances flexibility: Regular massage can help increase joint mobility and flexibility, leading to improved range of motion and decreased stiffness.
Boosts immune function: Massage therapy can stimulate the lymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy immune system.
Supports injury recovery: Massage can be an effective complementary treatment for injury rehabilitation, helping to alleviate pain and inflammation and promote healing.
Mental and Emotional Benefits
Reduces stress and anxiety: Massage therapy has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, in the body.
Promotes relaxation: The calming effects of massage can help soothe your mind and encourage a sense of deep relaxation.
Enhances mental clarity: By reducing stress and anxiety, massage can help improve focus and mental clarity.
Encourages better sleep: Regular massage therapy can promote more restful sleep, which in turn supports overall well-being.

Remember, these benefits can be experienced with consistent massage therapy sessions tailored to your individual needs.
If you are someone living with chronic conditions, currently recovering from surgery or injury, or otherwise have concerns, please consult your physician prior to starting a massage routine.
Yoga
What style(s) of yoga do you teach?
Somatic Yoga is a holistic approach that combines traditional yoga asanas (poses) with somatic movement practices, emphasizing body awareness, mindfulness, and self-discovery.
Somatic yoga aims to develop a deeper understanding of your body's unique movements, sensations, and responses to various stimuli. This practice encourages you to explore and reconnect with your body's innate intelligence, often referred to as the "body-mind connection."
In a somatic yoga class, you can expect a blend of gentle, flowing movements, and slow, mindful transitions that allow you to notice subtle changes in your body. This practice often involves exercises that target specific muscle groups, release tension, and improve overall body alignment.
Some key elements of somatic yoga include:
Gentle, exploratory movements: These slow, mindful movements allow you to observe and listen to your body's signals.
Proprioceptive awareness: Developing awareness of your body's position in space, which helps improve balance and coordination.
Body scanning: Bringing attention to different parts of your body, observing any areas of tension, discomfort, or ease.
Breathwork: Connecting with your breath to deepen your awareness and enhance relaxation.
Do I need prior yoga experience to attend your classes?
Nope! All classes are foundational in nature and encourage the use of props and modifications to help attendees find the most comfort in each practice.
What should I bring to a yoga class?
While all props are provided, some people like to bring their own. Additionally I would recommend a water bottle and a journal and writing utensil.
How often should I practice yoga to see benefits?
There is no right or wrong amount to practice yoga. Benefits can be seen immediately. Attending yoga with me can help you attune the body for the season as I incorporate principles of the Wheel of the Year, Astrology, and Ayurveda into an already Somatic experience. More frequent pracitce often results in more dramatic shifts in the body.
If you are someone living with chronic conditions, currently recovering from surgery or injury, or otherwise have concerns, please consult your physician prior to starting a yoga routine.
Metaphysical Arts/Psychic Practices
What services do you offer in the realm of metaphysical arts?
The better question is what do I not offer! As a self-taught praticitioner of 15 years, I have explored many modalities and am often open to providing services that may not be explicitly offered. For example, palm reading was one of my first skills, but it is not something that tends to be super popular so it is not listed in the menu of services.
I have a wide net of skills and tools to help be a spring board for you to find your tools and methods of connection. Let's tap into magic together.
How accurate are tarot card readings, astrology, palm reading, dowsing, and scrying?
In the context of my practice, the question of accuracy for practices like tarot card readings, astrology, palm reading, dowsing, and scrying can be reframed to focus on their value in promoting self-discovery and personal growth.
When these modalities are approached from the perspective of depth psychology, the emphasis is not on predicting the future or providing absolute truths. Instead, they are used as tools to explore the unconscious mind, uncover hidden patterns, and facilitate a deeper understanding of one's self.
These practices can offer rich symbolism and metaphors that clients can use to gain insights into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The symbols and archetypes found in tarot cards or astrology, for instance, can serve as mirrors for clients to reflect on their experiences and emotions, fostering personal growth and self-awareness.
In this sense, the "accuracy" of these practices lies in their ability to resonate with the client's experiences and encourage introspection. By engaging with these modalities in a therapeutic context, clients can benefit from exploring their inner landscapes, identifying areas for growth, and developing new paths forward in their personal development journeys.
How can these practices help me in my life?
The metaphysical arts help us to connect to and make meaning of our inner worlds, allowing for a more integrated human experience that helps us to feel grounded in beings and connected to others. I often lean on practices like tarot and astrology when I am facing challenges in my life to help shine a light on the path through the struggle.
Can you provide guidance on developing my own psychic abilities?
Yes! I offer occasional Intuitive Development workshops or you can reach out to me directly for 1-1 work.
